Rehearsal schedule

Hello everyone! Hope you're enjoying your weekend and getting ready for our first two rehearsals next week.

As we start to learn the music in rehearsals, it would be a big help if our cast members got familiar with the Once On This Island soundtrack on their own. Our rehearsal period is two months, so the more you learn outside of rehearsals, the more we can get done when we're together. I will be uploading songs from the Once On This Island Jr. version to the blog for you all to download, listen to, and get familiar with (the Jr. version songs are slightly different than the Original Broadway Cast recording for any of you who own that CD).

Click here to download the first few songs from the show:
Prologue/We Dance
One Small Girl/Waiting for Life
And The Gods Heard Her Prayer/Rain

* As always, leave us a comment below if you have any questions or trouble downloading the music

Also available is the finalized rehearsal schedule for January and February. It is very similar to the tentative schedule we gave you with your audition packet. There are a few changes to the small group/principal rehearsals (some moved from Monday night to Wednesday night), and we canceled rehearsal on Wednesday, January 11th since so many of you are going to be at the instrumental concert that night.

Click here to download a Word Document version of the schedule.

Please let us know if you have any questions, and we'll see you at our first two rehearsals this week:
Tuesday, December 20th from 2:30 - 4:45 - FULL CAST
Thursday, December 22nd from 2:30 - 4:45 - FULL CAST

See you soon!!!

Q&A, fresh music downloads

I was going through comments and wanted to address some questions that have popped up!

Q: Are the dance videos on the blog yet? Where can I find them?
A: Sorry, they aren't up yet. Because of privacy issues, we will be sending out the videos in an email to all of you. Keep an eye out for an email that will contain two or three videos as attachments. I'll probably post something here to let you know when the email goes out!

Q: What are we doing on Saturday?
A: We will definitely try to hit on ALL of the material we've covered so far, and we'll probably get to the blocking/staging for "Come Away." We will let you know who is going to be featured in "Come Away" and "Rich Damp Cake" on Saturday.

Q: Can you post "Braves to War" on the blog?
A: Well, if you mean the video, that will come out soon in an email. But if you're looking for an audio file, just click here to download it.

If you need any more of the music, here are the songs we've covered so far (click the song title to download):

See you soon & enjoy the snow,

Saturday's rehearsal & Monday night

Thank you to all who came out to rehearsal this morning! We really wanted to stick with our parent meeting and get started on choreography with Mrs. Devenney for "Wendy's Song," and we were successful with both endeavors!

For those who were unable to make it: Parents, please check in with Carrie Kennedy (caskennedyesquire@comcast.net) to see what you missed at the parent meeting or to sign up to volunteer. Cast members, we just went over "Wendy's Song" and I will be posting a video of the choreography we went over.

Since we missed a good two and a half hours of rehearsal, we will be extending the rehearsal on Saturday, January 22nd. It will now be 9-3PM.

Monday night's rehearsal will be from 6:30 - 8:30 in the choral room for:
- Mr. Darling
- Mrs. Darling
- Wendy
- John
- Michael
- Liza
- Nana
- Peter Pan
- Tinkerbell
- The Shadow

Homework for next week:
- memorize words for "Wendy's Song" and "The Darlings"
- work on memorizing the other songs
- practice choreography for "Wendy's Song"
- the Darlings: for Monday, have pages 1-15 memorized -- we will be doing staging

And for those interested in getting a head start on our chant (which we'll learn this week and start singing it at the end of every rehearsal). Our chant begins around 0:15! Check it out!

See you soon,
Ms. Hrap & Ms. Neville

P.S. From now on, snow cancellations or delays will be posted on the blog, so please be sure to check it if you are unsure of what to do! If we are having rehearsal but you are uncomfortable driving, please use your discretion! We don't want anyone trekking out to rehearsal if they don't feel safe!!

Great music rehearsal!

Thank you all for a great rehearsal today. We are almost through a big chunk of the music for the show, so by Saturday, we'll be up and moving around!

Reminder to leads:
- The Darlings (includes Liza): have dialogue from pages 1-21 memorized
- Wendy, Peter: have dialogue from pages 1-14 memorized & move on if you can!
- Lost Boys: have dialogue from pages 21-35 memorized
- Pirates: have dialogue from pages 21-35 memorized, familiarize yourselves with Rich Damp Cake

PLEASE PRACTICE ALL THE MUSIC WE'VE LEARNED SO FAR!!
To download Wendy's Song, comment below and I will re-upload the song.

Remember to keep your grades up, stay bundled up and healthy, and practice, practice, practice!

See you Thursday,
Ms. Hrap & Ms. Neville

First rehearsal? Check!

Thank you to our wonderful cast for such a successful first rehearsal! We let you know our expectations, and are excited that you are all willing to rise to the occasion. Our production is going to be amazing, so it's time to get crackin'!

Below is a list of the first three songs we will be learning at upcoming rehearsals. Please click the links to download the songs and take a listen so you can familiarize yourself with them. If you'd like to familiarize yourself with the music by purchasing the CD (which you don't have to), it is available on iTunes (Peter Pan the British Musical, release date: 11/16/09). We realize that not many of you are familiar with the show and we just wanted to give you some options to get to know the music if you choose to do so.
  • Peter
  • The Darlings
  • Come Away
  • EDIT (1/12): Comment below if you need us to re-upload the songs so you can download them.
That being said, our first few rehearsals will be devoted solely to learning music, which means that there will be a lot of sitting in the choral room with your scripts (and PENCILS!). But don't worry, we'll be up and moving before you know it! We will start doing some dancing and staging in January.

REMINDERS/ANNOUNCEMENTS:
  • For those who committed to the bake sale, items should be brought to the musical's table before the choral concert on 12/16, when parents drop off students at the choral concert at the high school at 7PM.
  • Principals, please be sure to read through the rest of script to get to know your characters!
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns, and thanks for a great first rehearsal!
Ms. Hrap & Ms. Neville
