Ahoy, mateys! Long time no blog. I hope you had a relaxing day off today and got to spend some time playing in the snow! If school is canceled again tomorrow, we will not have rehearsal at 2:30 and we will see you Saturday. If school is at its regular time or if there is a two-hour delay, we will still be having rehearsal.
Here are some pictures from last Saturday's awesome rehearsal (Thanks to Mrs. Lane for taking these great photos!):
We have gotten so much done, but it's up to you to remember it all! We know you can do it! Here is what we've gotten through so far:
- Entrance during the overture, blocking/staging for "Peter"
- The Darlings' opening scene and song, "The Darlings"
- The rest of the Darlings' scene with Peter & Wendy, "What Happens When You're Grown Up?"
- Pirates' entrance, scene, and "Rich Damp Cake"
- Lost Boys' entrance, scene, and "Wendy's Song"
- "Braves to War" (click to download): an intense dance! I hope you've been practicing at home!
See you soon,
Ms. Hrap & Ms. Neville
& now for a note from your costume designer:
On Saturday, Lost Boy ensemble students received their costuming sheets for designing their Lost Boys costumes for Peter Pan! I hope that you are having fun thinking about creating your Lost Boy costume!
VESTS 101: How to FIND or MAKE
A Really Awesome Lost Boy Vest!
You could find a vest that is already a vest... very easy! Look for vests of all designs and materials- short vests, long vests, sweater material, leather, suede... a lot of the vests we are using for the show are vests that I found in thrift stores.
You can also have some fun and be creative with things that you find in thrift stores or in your attic! Here are some ideas of things that I did to make vests:
- Yesterday, I was making up a costume and found a sweater vest that was various shades of brown. It didn't look right as a pullover sweater, so I snipped it up the center and made it into a vest!
- Then I cut two smaller strips from both sides that I may use as arm bands or a head band.
- Next I found a really neat pullover textured shirt and some deep colored over sized ribbed tank tops and I did the same thing. I cut them right up the center and voila there they were.... 2 more readymade vests...in just minutes!
Just use your imagination! At rehearsal this Saturday look for me because I will have some really neat ideas for some things that you might want to look for and do to create your Lost Boy look! I'll also have some samples of complete Lost Boys costumes to give you a better idea of what to look for to design your costume.
Have fun and be sure to ask me if you need my help!
