The district asked us to cancel tomorrow's rehearsal due to the incoming wintry mix.

Saturday's weather!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT SATURDAY'S REHEARSAL:
Due to the pending inclement weather and early morning ice, we are delaying rehearsal one hour on Saturday morning. Rehearsal on Saturday, January 21 will be from 10AM-2PM. Please bring a snack & your lunch in addition to the usual (script, sneakers, pencil).

Please check this blog before you venture out on Saturday morning just in case! We will be monitoring the weather and local roads and determine if rehearsal needs to be canceled. An update will be posted on the blog if rehearsal is canceled. Cross your fingers that the weather is not too bad!

Pray solo

Apologies this is so late, but for those interested in the "Pray" solo (boys OR girls), come to the choral room AS SOON as you get out of class. We will begin a quick warm-up and audition for the solo from 2:30-2:40.

Everyone else is to come to the choral room at 2:30, quiet and ready for rehearsal to begin.

Saturday update

Thanks for the photos, Mrs. Lane!

Awesome rehearsals this week, everyone! We're making a lot of progress, and at this rate, we'll be finished the first half of the show before we know it!

Next week: 

1. Tuesday: no rehearsal (no school)!
2. Wednesday: small group rehearsal, 6:30 - 8:30, we will need the storytellers, the gods, Mama, TonTon, and Ti Moune (understudies and swings are not to come)
3. Thursday: a dance rehearsal for everyone! Mrs. A. is coming in to finish up "We Dance."

Practice your lyrics, vocals, and dance moves, and keep yourselves healthy this weekend! Something is definitely going around. And make sure to ALWAYS bring your water, script, pencil, and sneakers!

This week's rehearsals

Hi cast! Hope you're dancing your way through the week!

We had a successful small group rehearsal last night, working on "One Small Girl" and "Pray," and we can't wait to keep working on the first half of the show together!

This week we will be revisiting vocals for "We Dance" and "One Small Girl," and we will be continuing with blocking and dancing for those numbers. We will also start to learn "Waiting for Life" and "Pray." Please download the Broadway Jr. rehearsal tracks (available here) to familiarize yourselves with the songs. Ms. Sunnergren is excited to keep working with you all, but you must be practicing at home and MEMORIZING THOSE LYRICS!! :)

Reminder: no rehearsal this Wednesday 1/11, Saturday 1/14, or Tuesday 1/17.

Stage Crew Applications Now Available!

For students interested in stage crew, please filled out an application and return to the main office (for the "Musical" mailbox) by Friday, January 20th!

The application is available for download here. The file is called STAGECREWAPP.doc. Applications will also be available at school.

A great first week!

Thank you everyone, for making this week an amazing start to our production! To our cast: you've done an amazing job in rehearsals and we can't wait to do more singing, staging, and dancing next week. To our parents: thank you so much for your support, we cannot do this without you!!

A quick note about stage crew before I forget: applications will be available at school by the end of the month. Spread the news to those who might be interested.

Monday night's small group rehearsal: we will need Ti Moune, Little Ti Moune, Mama, TonTon, the gods, storytellers, and featured villagers, as well as their understudies and our swings.

Stay tuned for an update about costumes!!! We will give out that information as soon as possible.

Small group rehearsals, a note about Saturday 1/7

For future reference: every Saturday, we will be announcing who is needed at the small group/principal rehearsals for the following week. We will do our best to plan ahead to make scheduling easy for all of you.

Regarding LUNCH at rehearsal this Saturday, January 7th: rehearsal runs from 9am-1pm. We will be taking a short morning break for snack and water, and then we will be taking a break later in the day. It will be half an hour. The directors will be eating lunch at that time, so students are more than welcome to also bring their lunches. If students would rather bring a snack for the afternoon break and wait to have lunch after rehearsal, that's fine, too. It's up to you!

Awesome rehearsal!

Thank you all for a great rehearsal today! We've almost conquered the big opening number and can't wait to start dancing to it!

Some reminders:

1) At tomorrow night's rehearsal we will need: Ti Moune, Little Ti Moune, Mama Euralie, TonTon Julian, Asaka, Agwe, Erzulie, Papa Ge, Daniel, and the 6 storytellers. Please bring homework, as we will be doing individual work with all of you. 6:30-8:30 in the choral room. Storytellers will most likely be done by 8pm. Swings and understudies are not to come.

2) Saturday's rehearsal is 9am to 1pm. At 9:00 there is also a mandatory parents' meeting. One parent/guardian for each child/family must be present. The meeting should be no longer than an hour.

3) On Saturday, we are collecting the $50 activity fee, required of all students participating in after school activities at GV. An email was sent out about this fee. Please contact producer, Carrie Kennedy, with any questions: caskennedyesquire@comcast.net
