Some notes about costuming:

Everyone should already be generating ideas for their costumes and gathering the pieces together based on the sheets you were given this week. Please contact Ms. Kathi (playbill3@comcast.net) or Mrs. Carbonar (lcarbonar@aol.com) with any questions you may have.

Costumes must be brought in this week (ALL ITEMS TOGETHER IN ONE BAG WITH YOUR NAME ON EACH PIECE) and have to be FULLY APPROVED by February 12th. This means that you cannot wait until the 12th to bring in your costume... you must bring it in beforehand in case our costumers or producers ask you to make any changes.

  • ALL Indians (including ensemble, featured & named):
    • bring your costumes to one of our producers for approval
  • ALL Lost Boys (including ensemble, featured & named):
    • bring your costume pieces to either Ms. Kathi or Mrs. Carbonar for approval
  • Pirates and Darlings, you received your costume sheets today, look them over and gather your remaining costume pieces.
    • Pirates submit pieces to our producers for approval
    • Darlings submit pieces to Ms. Kathi or Mrs. Carbonar for approval
Did you forget or lose your costume sheet? Indians click here to download it, Lost Boys click here to download it. These links will bring you to a site called "mediafire.com" where you will need to click the link in the yellow box that says "Click here to start download.." and you should be able to save the document to your computer.

MONDAY NIGHT REHEARSAL: Peter, Tinkerbell, Wendy, John, Michael, named & featured Lost Boys, Tiger Lily, Smee, Starkey, and Hook are to report to the choral room for our 6:30 - 8:30 rehearsal. We will be working on pages 38 - 45 in the script.

Thank you for all your hard work!! Make sure you have all of your lyrics and dance moves memorized for next week as we are going to start putting the show together!!

See you soon,
Ms. Hrap & Ms. Neville

P.S. Head shots this Saturday!

Head shots from Charlestown's production of "Annie" (Alexandra Lee Nurthen Photography)

We will be taking head shots on Saturday! Be sure to do your hair however you'd like it for your picture and also...

IMPORTANT!! Please wear OR bring
a plain, dark-colored shirt to change into for your photo

We want the head shots to look uniform this year, so everyone will be photographed wearing a plain, dark (black, brown, navy blue, forest green, etc.) shirt. Thanks! See you soon!

Q&A, fresh music downloads

I was going through comments and wanted to address some questions that have popped up!

Q: Are the dance videos on the blog yet? Where can I find them?
A: Sorry, they aren't up yet. Because of privacy issues, we will be sending out the videos in an email to all of you. Keep an eye out for an email that will contain two or three videos as attachments. I'll probably post something here to let you know when the email goes out!

Q: What are we doing on Saturday?
A: We will definitely try to hit on ALL of the material we've covered so far, and we'll probably get to the blocking/staging for "Come Away." We will let you know who is going to be featured in "Come Away" and "Rich Damp Cake" on Saturday.

Q: Can you post "Braves to War" on the blog?
A: Well, if you mean the video, that will come out soon in an email. But if you're looking for an audio file, just click here to download it.

If you need any more of the music, here are the songs we've covered so far (click the song title to download):

See you soon & enjoy the snow,

Updates and costumes and photos, oh my!

Ahoy, mateys! Long time no blog. I hope you had a relaxing day off today and got to spend some time playing in the snow! If school is canceled again tomorrow, we will not have rehearsal at 2:30 and we will see you Saturday. If school is at its regular time or if there is a two-hour delay, we will still be having rehearsal.

Here are some pictures from last Saturday's awesome rehearsal (Thanks to Mrs. Lane for taking these great photos!):

We have gotten so much done, but it's up to you to remember it all! We know you can do it! Here is what we've gotten through so far:
  • Entrance during the overture, blocking/staging for "Peter"
  • The Darlings' opening scene and song, "The Darlings"
  • The rest of the Darlings' scene with Peter & Wendy, "What Happens When You're Grown Up?"
  • Pirates' entrance, scene, and "Rich Damp Cake"
  • Lost Boys' entrance, scene, and "Wendy's Song"
  • "Braves to War" (click to download): an intense dance! I hope you've been practicing at home!
See you soon,
Ms. Hrap & Ms. Neville

& now for a note from your costume designer:

On Saturday, Lost Boy ensemble students received their costuming sheets for designing their Lost Boys costumes for Peter Pan! I hope that you are having fun thinking about creating your Lost Boy costume!

VESTS 101: How to FIND or MAKE
A Really Awesome Lost Boy Vest!

You could find a vest that is already a vest... very easy! Look for vests of all designs and materials- short vests, long vests, sweater material, leather, suede... a lot of the vests we are using for the show are vests that I found in thrift stores.

You can also have some fun and be creative with things that you find in thrift stores or in your attic! Here are some ideas of things that I did to make vests:
  1. Yesterday, I was making up a costume and found a sweater vest that was various shades of brown. It didn't look right as a pullover sweater, so I snipped it up the center and made it into a vest!
  2. Then I cut two smaller strips from both sides that I may use as arm bands or a head band.
  3. Next I found a really neat pullover textured shirt and some deep colored over sized ribbed tank tops and I did the same thing. I cut them right up the center and voila there they were.... 2 more readymade vests...in just minutes!
Just use your imagination! At rehearsal this Saturday look for me because I will have some really neat ideas for some things that you might want to look for and do to create your Lost Boy look! I'll also have some samples of complete Lost Boys costumes to give you a better idea of what to look for to design your costume.

Have fun and be sure to ask me if you need my help!
Mrs. Hrap, Costume Designer

Remember, your total costume needs to be at school and
APPROVED by February 12th! Don't wait until the last minute!

Great rehearsal!

Thanks everyone for a great rehearsal! We got a lot done and are almost ready to put together the first few scenes, can you believe it?

Just a reminder to complete the medical and photo release forms (which was emailed to you, but it's also available by clicking here) and turn it into Mrs. Kennedy as soon as possible:

  • The photo permission form and a medical info form (combined on one document) need to be completed if you haven't already done so...they were available last Saturday but not everyone could make the practice due to our inclement weather.  The medical information form will be kept confidential but it is important that we are aware of any special needs/concerns (ie. allergies, etc.) so that we can do our best to keep your child safe.
  • We are also collecting $25 for each cast and crew member which goes toward the cast party, pizza party, ice cream social and cds... so please make checks to GV Musical Club.

However, all BAND and ORCHESTRA members who are performing in tonight's concert have permission to go home on the bus in order to get homework done before the concert. If you are not in band or orchestra, you must report to rehearsal. Thanks!!

Saturday's rehearsal & Monday night

Thank you to all who came out to rehearsal this morning! We really wanted to stick with our parent meeting and get started on choreography with Mrs. Devenney for "Wendy's Song," and we were successful with both endeavors!

For those who were unable to make it: Parents, please check in with Carrie Kennedy (caskennedyesquire@comcast.net) to see what you missed at the parent meeting or to sign up to volunteer. Cast members, we just went over "Wendy's Song" and I will be posting a video of the choreography we went over.

Since we missed a good two and a half hours of rehearsal, we will be extending the rehearsal on Saturday, January 22nd. It will now be 9-3PM.

Monday night's rehearsal will be from 6:30 - 8:30 in the choral room for:
- Mr. Darling
- Mrs. Darling
- Wendy
- John
- Michael
- Liza
- Nana
- Peter Pan
- Tinkerbell
- The Shadow

Homework for next week:
- memorize words for "Wendy's Song" and "The Darlings"
- work on memorizing the other songs
- practice choreography for "Wendy's Song"
- the Darlings: for Monday, have pages 1-15 memorized -- we will be doing staging

And for those interested in getting a head start on our chant (which we'll learn this week and start singing it at the end of every rehearsal). Our chant begins around 0:15! Check it out!

See you soon,
Ms. Hrap & Ms. Neville

P.S. From now on, snow cancellations or delays will be posted on the blog, so please be sure to check it if you are unsure of what to do! If we are having rehearsal but you are uncomfortable driving, please use your discretion! We don't want anyone trekking out to rehearsal if they don't feel safe!!

Important scheduling notes

ATTENTION: There will be NO rehearsal on Tuesday, January 18th. There is no school that day, so we will NOT be requiring you to come to school for a rehearsal. Please make this correction on your schedules.

LOOKING AHEAD: Saturday, February 19th is during Presidents' Day weekend. We scheduled a rehearsal for 9-3PM on that day. The following students notified us on their audition form that they would not be able to attend the 2/19 rehearsal, and they are okay to miss this rehearsal:

  • Nils Aho
  • Caroline Badyna
  • Christy Leland
  • Claire Wilson
  • Laurel Wilson
Everyone else needs to be in attendance. We are thinking of cutting the rehearsal down to 9-12PM to give you a bit of a break during that weekend, but this also depends on snow days and how much progress we've made up to this point. Comment on this entry if this is a problem.

Thanks,
Ms. Hrap & Ms. Neville
